Mount Rigi
DESCRIPTION
Discover one of the most extraordinary landscapes in Switzerland, the ‘Queen of the Swiss Mountains’, Mount Rigi. Participants will travel via Europe’s first cogwheel train, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, to the peak of Switzerland’s most glorious landmark, Rigi Kulm, and soak up the breath-taking view. The Organising Committee has prepared a special tour and later dinner for a remarkable experience at the peak.
The majestic Mount Rigi is surrounded by a trio of lakes—Lake Lucerne, Lake Zug, and Lake Lauerz—and to the neighbouring pinnacles of Mount Pilatus and Brunnistock. The gorgeous mountainside has captured the hearts of writers like Mark Twain and painters like JMW Turner.
As the ride is 1,800 metres above sea level, don’t forget to bring a jacket. Once we reach Rigi, gear up to participate in our very own AIJA Swiss Olympic Games 2021, filled with challenging yet super fun activities. Followed by an ‘aperitif with a view’ from the terrace of the Rigi marquee. The seated dinner will be a full Swiss buffet menu inclusive of local specialities like raclette and fondue.
Concluding the evening with an afterparty before getting back to the valley and Zurich. So, get ready to create unforgettable memories with AIJA friends and experience the spectacular views of the Swiss Alps.
