FAQs

What is a hybrid event?

A hybrid event means that the event is taking place both on-site AND online, in-person AND virtually. This can apply to the programme and to the audience. In the case of the AIJA Congress, the programme will be hybrid for both:

  • with speakers and moderators in Zurich on stage AND remote speakers connecting digitally
  • with participants attending in the session meeting room and delegates connecting via the AIJA virtual platform.

Both the physical as well as the online audience come together and participate in the Congress experience and content at the same time, from different locations.

Why proposing a hybrid congress?

As an international organisation, AIJA wants to remain inclusive and innovative. While it will be possible for participants to join physically in Zurich and enjoy the exclusive experiences and networking activities that an AIJA Congress offers, those who cannot attend in-person due to personal or logistical reasons will have the opportunity to benefit from the same outstanding academic programme and a customized social programme.

With this first-ever hybrid Congress offered by a global legal organisation, AIJA is excited to offer even more possibilities for our members to connect.

How will the schedule and programme be adapted to the onsite and the online audiences?

The academic programme will be livestreamed from Zurich main stage following a local time schedule. It has been designed to avoid competing parallel sessions. All sessions will also be recorded so that delegates can access the academic tracks either live or on-demand via the AIJA virtual platform.

The duration of the sessions has been adapted to offer the most optimised experience for both the in person and virtual audience.

The networking activities and social functions will be different.

Delegates attending physically in Zurich will enjoy the regular coffee and lunch breaks between session and join the Congress evening landmark events such as the Welcome Reception, Igniting Innovation Ceremony, Home Hospitality, Day out and Gala Dinner. The virtual participants will have the chance to join a la carte networking activities on top of the congress platform interactive features.

A detailed programme with colour codes for activities taking place as hybrid, onsite only or online only will be available and downloadable from the ‘Programme’ menu item.

What are the registration options for the AIJA Congress?

Participants will have the choice between two clear options on the registration webpage:

  • Register to the ONSITE Congress in Zurich
  • Register to the ONLINE Congress on the AIJA virtual platform

The onsite congress fee covers all onsite activities and includes a pass to the virtual platform to access all digital services (on-demand videos) and network with the whole congress participant community.

The online congress fee will cover the access to all services available via the virtual platform.

Will there be an early bird fee for onsite participation?

No. There is no early bird fee this year, only a standard fee available until 10 August to provide a fairer access to all participants whenever they are able to take the firm decision to travel.

Can I use my pre-registration for an online participation?

Yes. The pre-registration fee can be used and deducted from the onsite fee or the online fee.

Can I change my registration from ONLINE to ONSITE if I can travel last minute?

Yes. Just contact the AIJA Team to change your registration status and arrange all details of your participation on-site (social functions, diet requirements, payment of onsite registration fee, etc).

What if unexpected restrictive measures are issued by Swiss authorities impacting the authorised format and capacity of the event?

The Zurich Organising Committee, AIJA Bureau and Team are closely monitoring the development of the re-opening of events including capacities, protocols, traveling requirements.

In case changes must occur for sanitary reasons, AIJA will communicate directly with all registered delegates to provide information about the participation status and propose adapted solutions.

FAQs - HEALTH & SAFETY

What will be the health & safety protocols in place at the Congress?

AIJA will make sure the congress is fully complying with local Health and Safety requirements currently in place on the Congress dates. This will include hand gel availability, catering organisation, transportation, among others.

Congress venues, suppliers and partners collaborating on the congress preparation have been carefully selected and briefed to ensure the full participant experience is handled according to standards in place.

The success and safety of the physical Congress will also rely on the responsible behaviour of each and every participant.
