Session #5

10:00 – 11:00 CEST

DESCRIPTION
Over the past 18 months, the exigency for financial technology and innovation have been thrown into sharp relief. But for some institutions, the pandemic offered a welcome opportunity to approach the innovators who had already gained traction in disrupting the banking and capital markets sector through agility, technology, and light regulation. But what does this entail for existing innovators? Is there a need to re-innovate? What will be the stratagem? Can the regulators catch up, and do they even want to? Join this session held by the AIJA Banking, Finance and Capital Markets Commission to unmask these questions.
We will discuss how new technologies have been transforming the banking and financial services sector and how incumbent players have been responding to disruptors, innovators and fintech entrepreneurs. Learn the current trends in fintech, cryptocurrency and mobile payments, question the regulatory market and inquire about the next innovations for the industry and market. Specific focus will be placed on legal challenges caused by innovation and how to balance innovation with regulatory compliance.
